"Sometimes, in those moments when we are at our
weakest, when it is most difficult to see the path before
us, the doors of opportunity are cracked open for us. We
are given a choice. Whether or not we choose to walk
through those doors is another matter."
"Whenever I experience a new loss, which I know
will inevitably come, I look for those opportunities to
recycle the gifts loved ones have given me. I look for ways
to escape the locks of depression and find the beauty in
their life."
"I am reminded that I have so many of these moments
in life when I must be woken up from my own ignorance.
Sometimes, it comes in the form of a hard slap in the
face. Other times, it is more subtle. Regardless, I need to
constantly remind myself to become immersed in the
larger world around me—to escape my own ignorance.
Because if I don’t, I might just be missing out on some of
the best parts of life."
"Daily, I take a look at those pieces of paper hung on
my wall showing the fancy degrees I have received to
remind myself of that important lesson: degrees can be
used to justify our comfortable life but they can also be
used to inspire us to take that leap of faith—take a chance
on the unknown.
Because, when we do so, we find our authentic self.
And, when that happens, superficial realities seem to
dissipate in life."
". . .eroding your principles keeps you in a constant
state of dehydration. You will never be satisfied and
will likely wind up turning into some image of yourself
you never knew existed. Living a principled life, however,
is the vehicle toward finding internal happiness with
yourself and long-term satisfaction with your community."
"Only fools tell you that you either have or don’t have
ambition. We all do. It may manifest differently and in
different degrees as others, but we all have it. Ambition is
one of those rare traits that has advanced our species to
the top of the food chain; however, unchecked ambition is
a lonely affair. It becomes self-isolating and self-subscripting
and can cause fractures in our foundational values
we thought so solid."
"We all have Pivot Points in our life. They are opportunities
to grow to the best version of our authentic self.
Any one of those apparently small decisions has the power
to drastically change our life. My hope for you is that you
find your own Pivot Points. When you’re presented with
those Pivot Points, give them the respect they deserve.
Seize them. Analyze them. See where those choices have,
or could, lead you. I’ll bet you it leads you toward a journey
of growth, self-discovery, fulfillment, and purpose."
